(NewsUSA) - If you think activities like rock climbing, kayaking and bungee jumping are vacation fodder exclusive to 20-year-olds, a growing number of baby
boomers would disagree with you.

These days, older adults are seeking out more exciting vacation options than lolling around the pool or spending an afternoon leaning over the side of a fishing boat. In an AARP
survey, 55 percent of boomers consider themselves adventurous, and 77 percent consider their own travel experiences to be more adventurous than their parents'.

At the same time, going on a high-energy vacation doesn't mean that you have to rough it. Catering to thrill-seeking boomers who also want some R&R, western Canada's new
Whistler Mountaineer train, coupled with one of eight adventure packages, provides the best of both worlds.

Along with the three-hour rail trip from Vancouver to Whistler, British Columbia, travelers can choose from a selection of adventures featuring day tours or overnight stays in luxury hotels in Whistler.

In the Whistler Bungee Adventure, thrill-seekers jump from a bridge 180 feet above the glacier-fed Cheakamus River. Another tour, the ATV Adventure, features a ride on the same luxury train, then lets vacationers tear through the back country of Canada's Cougar Mountain atop an all-terrain vehicle. And those choosing the Ziptrek Ecotour, Whistler's most popular year round adventure tour, feel the exhilaration of flying along steel ziplines high above Fitzsimmons Creek.

These adventures begin onboard the Whistler Mountaineer train as guests take in the breathtaking scenery of the Sea to Sky corridor. Highlights along the route include the cascade of Shannon Falls and the volcanic peak of Mount Garibaldi. Brandywine Falls, a 216-foot waterfall, is close enough to touch as the train glides by. Along the way, wildlife watchers may spot black bears, eagles and other animals of the region. With everything there is to see and do, this rail experience aims to please travelers of any age.
